Caffeine is a widely consumed substance occurring in food, drinks and medicines. A cup of brewed coffee (5 - 6 oz) contains about 90 - 140 mg of caffeine, a chocolate bar or an ounce of baking chocolate contains 25 - 35 mg, while softdrinks like Coke, Pepsi, and Mountain Dew (8 - 12 oz) contains about 25 - 50 mg of caffeine. Caffeine intake of more than 250 to 500 milligrams can cause symptoms of overdose like restlessness, insomnia, tremors and cardiovascular instability.
