It is described a a dangerous phenomenon often with violent results on the areas it passes. It is described as funnel-shaped, which is an extension from a cumulonimbus cloud. The Fujita Scale is used to grade the intensity of a tornado by assessing its damage to man-made structures.
The Philippines, which is a common alley of thunderstorms, is also susceptible to tornadoes as cumulonimbus clouds are formed in thunderstorms. The latest recorded tornado in the Philippines was in August 2010, in Oton, Iloilo.
